NAME July 2012

Week 1
BEJA OF EGYPT, SUDAN AND ERITREA (BEE-ja) - For the month of July, please pray for “Project Visitation,” in which local believers will share the love of Jesus as they visit in cities with major Beja populations. Pray that fears of any repercussions to sharing will be replaced with boldness. Pray also that the hearts of the Beja will be softened to receive the Gospel as it is shared with them.

Week 2
KABYLE BERBERS OF ALGERIA AND FRANCE (kuh-BEEL BER-bers) - Because of the number of Kabyle Berbers in North Africa who are choosing to follow Jesus, there is a great need for the teaching of the Word and a commitment from leaders to start formal Bible studies. Pray that the authorities will allow schools to be established that will even permit foreign believing leaders and teachers to help in the discipleship process. Please ask God to continue to grow His church and to raise up the next generation of Kabyle leaders from among the believers.

Week 3
TIHAMA YEMENI ARABS OF YEMEN (tih-HAH-mah) - Starting in mid-July, Tihama Yemeni Arabs will join millions of Muslims around the world in fasting sunrise to sunset during their holy month of Ramadan. They believe that prayers and good works done at this time are especially favored by God. Pray that many Tihamis will realize this Ramadan that works cannot secure right standing before the King of heaven and earth, and that only a simple, childlike faith in Jesus’ sacrifice for them can do so.

Week 4
NORTHERN AFRICAN AND MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLES - Workers in Europe are making plans for non-profit organizations that could provide more connections with people groups in the community. These organizations would be geared towards providing training for families to learn crafts, get more qualified for jobs, and hear Truth. Pray that all the necessary paperwork and everything else that is needed will be in place for the official set-up and registration with the governments. Pray that as these organizations meet felt needs, relationships will form and opportunities will be provided to meet spiritual needs.

Week 5
A uupg request:SHAWIYA BERBERS OF NORTHERN AFRICA AND EUROPE (sha-WEE-yah BER-bers) - “What doth the Lord thy God require of thee, but to fear the Lord thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul” (Deuteronomy 10:12). Many Shawiya are followers of Islam and will celebrate Ramadan from July 20 to August 18, believing it to be the holiest period of the year. They will fast the entire day, and may even increase the number of hours they spend at the mosque. At night, some will add extra hours of prayers. They will work desperately during this period of Ramadan, hoping to gain entrance into Paradise. As they fast, they hope God will answer their prayers for a better life. Please pray for the Shawiya people to discover the perfect Lamb who takes away the sins of the world.
