Swaziland 2017 Mission Trip

Kentucky WMU Mission Trip to Swaziland
August 10-21, 2017
Trip Co-Leaders: Joy Bolton & Wayne Myers 

Kentucky WMU will sponsor a mission trip to Swaziland to assist with Baptist Global Response ministries and work with national Baptist churches and pastors. Potential ministries will include:

  •  BGR Ministry – We will work primarily with Swazi Baptist churches and pastors in rural areas and also the Rural Healthcare Givers in getting to homesteads to deliver hospice care buckets and share the gospel. (Team members will need to be able walk distances and wear comfortable walking shoes.)
  • National WMU Training event to train the Swazi National Women’s Committee. Ladies from the local churches will also be invited to participate.
  • Ladies Bible Study at a local church during the week.
  • Bible study, craft and games for children and youth at a local church.
  • Evangelistic services and training with pastors.

SCHEDULE

Thursday, Aug. 10         Departure from Louisville Airport, 4:55 p.m. 
                                        
(Arrive by 3 p.m. for group check in)
                                        Depart Atlanta, 8:00 p.m. –   
                                        Overnight flight (15 hrs.) to Johannesburg, South Africa

Friday, August. 11         Arrive O.R. Tambo International, Johannesburg, 5:40 p.m.
                                        
Overnight at Baptist Guest House

Saturday, August 12      Travel to Phumula Farm Guest House,
                                          near Nhlangano, Southern Swaziland
                                        
 Team Orientation

Sunday, August 13        Visit in churches. 
                                        
(Team prepare to teach classes, sing,
                                             share testimony, preach, etc.)

Monday, August 14- Wed., August 16 
                                        
BGR and other ministries, WMU training, evangelistic services

Thursday, August 17     Mkhaya Game Reserve, debrief, prepare for weekend ministries

Friday, August 18-
 Sat. August 19 
                                       
Children’s Camp, Evangelism activities/services,
                                             BGR ministries, pastor training


Sunday, August. 20       Return to Johannesburg,
 
                                        
Visit Apartheid Museum
                                         Arrive Airport by 5 p.m., 
                                        
Overnight flight departing 7:50 p.m.

Monday, August 21         Arrive USA, return to Louisville

Cost per person: $3,000. Includes airfare, lodging and meals (in country), insurance (medical and trip), ground transportation, admission to Game Reserve and Apartheid Museum.  Not included: required immunizations, souvenirs, personal items, snacks, laundry, etc.

Heath Requirement for Team Members 
Must be in good health and able to walk distances. Must be able to handle the long overseas flight. Each team member is required to be able to carry their own luggage. We are not able to accommodate special diets.

Application Due by February 15, 2017.  Persons interested in participating in this trip must complete an application. Email Joy.Bolton@kybaptist.org to request an application form. Team size is limited to 10 plus the co-leaders (12 total). Team members will be selected based on applications and skills needed to complete requested ministries. Once notified of acceptance, a deposit of $500 required with payments due as follows: $500 deposit upon acceptance; $1,000 by April 30; $1000 by June 15; $500 balance by July 15.  Make checks payable to: Kentucky WMU.  (No payments by credit card.)
